Custom Hardware and Software
I help clients connect the wires.
Sometimes with simple projects like setting up an off-the-shelf device.
Other times with creating new products from scratch: custom PCBs, firmware, 3D-printed enclosures, desktop and mobile apps, and countrywide sensor network accessible online.
Hi, I'm Balázs, a Hungarian electrical engineer living in Barcelona since 2022. I have been freelancing for 20 years now. The majority of my clients are small companies and private individuals working on projects related some kind of automation. When doing a computer related project, we normally put the most effort on software. But due to special requirements, sometimes we cannot buy the hardware we need, or we cannot integrate two hardwares to make them work together. Small companies can't afford to hire a full time embedded hardware-software engineer. They don't even need it, since software dominates the everyday work. The logical move for them is to hire a freelancer on project base.
Most people do not ever think about designing a new electrical circuit. If you are one of them, you definitely should read this article. But if you are in a mindset of problem solving, you could end up considering it. You have retro computers you want to keep alive, but some parts need redesigning or re-interfacing? You are working on a complex smart home system with many sensors, motion detectors, but can't figure out how to set up everything? Do you dream of building a new electronic device from scratch - first prototype, then mass production?
I care about the long‑term maintenance of all my devices. Even if hand‑writing code makes less sense due to the AI boom, I love coding—especially using Test‑Driven Development.
